Mount Laurel, NJ (June 23, 2009) – Ventraq – a leader in profit and performance building solutions for communication service providers and large enterprises – today announced it has been awarded a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its consumer configurable mobile communication content filtering solution.
The now-patented technology allows authorized subscribers, such as parents or mobile fleet enterprise managers, to personalize a profile of acceptable usage for secondary users, such as children or worker groups.
This results in greater control over the delivery of inappropriate web content, messaging and other applications as well as heavy bandwidth usage and its associated costs and network strain.
“Policy management and its ability to offer content and usage controls are taking on greater and greater importance among communication service providers,” said John Loughlin, EVP and General Manager of Mediation for Ventraq. “This patent affirms our pioneering work in mobile controls, which started with parental controls and content filtering, and has evolved into the growing area of policy-based networks. Our customers can now more powerfully manage the bandwidth in use while offering their subscribers a greater customer experience.”
The patented technology is currently in use within the Ventraq PlanPatrol® suite of content and usage control solutions.
Among applications enabled by this patent are policies allowing: parental or enterprise filtering that allows for cultural, regulatory or religious beliefs; personalized and differentiated service within a self-service portal; protection among general subscribers from “extreme” users who dominate bandwidth; and protection for service providers by disallowing high-liability access, such as blocking premium services for subprime subscribers.
The technology was invented by a group within Ventraq led by Jonjie Sena, Director, Business Development for Customer Behavior Analytics.
